This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Click on the link then scroll down to see the route through Keighley then onto Skipton.Unfortunately there are no times as to when the torch will come through but no doubt this will be advertised, hopefully, in the Keighley News prior to the event.

IT states that it will be carried through Keighley at 15:41 to the Beachcliff roundabout, then it must be taken from there to Skipton by road transport by 16:07.So it must come down the bypass between them times. After Skipton it goes to Ilkley so take your pick which side of Cringles you want to see it.

I was told Broughton Game Show has been cancelled this year because of clashing with the Olympic Torch event.

Its a shame the air ambulance and fell rescue charities will lose out.

Typical, cant believe its not coming through Silsden how does it make sense the torch being taken down both bypasses from Keighley to Skipton, you would of thought it would make sense to come through Silsden up cringles to either skipton or ilkley or even at least go down the B6265 through Utley, Steeton Eastburn etc.
mind you no doubt been organised by southerners that dont have a clue!!

Bit of a swiz. I thought it was carried by hand on the whole route.

In 1948 I think it was carried direct from Olympus to London, none of this round the houses stuff.

Evidently I was present when it passed, aged 1 1/4!

I am very suprised and disappointed it is not coming to Silsden. Would have been great to see it down at the football and cricket ground and then up and around the park before heading to Skipton.
