Hi

Need a new PC and had 2 previous bad experiences with computer retailers providing shoddy goods and poor after sales support. Can anyone recommend a good computer retailer who sells good gear and provides a good after sales service please?

Probably some will disagree with me but the last couple of computers I've bought have been from Comet in Keighley.

The guy who is the manager was excellent and we've had brilliant after sales.

I've had very good experiances from Dell, i'm sure people will disagree and complain that it is not a local company.
but thier products are good and very good value.

Personally we don't like pc world but that wouldn't stop us from going and having a look. Good Luck

Hi HB & Shazza

Yes, am considering a Dell but after sales support isn't reported (by Which) as being too good. Have you any experience of it?

I just went in the shop in Keighley, we also got the extra warranty and had to use it on a Sony laptop! When under the extended warranty they just collected it with DHL, took it away and repaired within a week.

Fortunatley, i've not had to use the aftercare service, i've not had any trouble with mine, plus as i said hubby a bit of a wizz. I have heard that service not brill with dell, but when you buy you have option to upgrade kind of warranty you get. I would imagine most compter companies work along the same lines now. You could look online for a comparison site with feedback, might help if other people have used dells after care service, I'm sure these sites are independent.

Hmmm, Dell have a good rep IMO for service and support but when you get a Dell/Compaq/Sony etc you get a PC/laptop loaded down with 'crapware'. By that I mean trial software that expires after 30 days and loads of stuff you will never use (four different media players was the worst I've seen), but nevertheless clogs up your hard drive and slows down your machine booting up.

Can you not get a geek to build you one? With careful choices you can get a better spec than Dell for equal dosh and choose what SW goes on it.

Or if you must get a Dell et al, get a trusted geek to uninstall all the crap you don't need and make a GHOST of the HDD.
