Having seen a relative being discharged from Airedale Hospital too soon on more than one occasion with infections and hospital acquired sores etc I am amazed to see the hospital announce the closure of Ward 3 with patients to be moved on from hospitals.

thats not strictly true but as has ALWAYS been the case across the NHS - if you can make your way home, you should (and why should we the tax payers, pay for your transport home if you are able to get in a car and a friend or relative has one?) - those that are unable to get home through infirmity or age are always given transport - those that can't afford to get home are given emergency payments by social security. But this thread isn't about that so sorry. And yes, sad that the ward is closing but sign of the times i am afraid.

Well - where are all those who slagged off Gordon Brown now. Not many after Kris our Kost Kutting party MP - so I assume everyone is actually happy with the situation.

Ken Clarke said it will get worse, and it will.

Given the debt Gordon Brown, through lack of bank regulation, left us with i am surprised you would remind us why the cuts are happening. None of us like whats happening but whoever was in power would be cutting either short and deep pain or a long drawn out pain. Not much choice for us either way.

I had not realised that while running the governmnet Gordon Brown was also running the banks!!

What is Gordon going to be blamed for next?

Failure to get anywhere in the world cup?
The crucifixion?

Whose job was it then to make laws?. It was Gordon that relaxed banking regulations. I didnt realise anybody thought otherwise. Dont really get involved in political arguments on here because you cant trust politicians. We have a government telling us we need cuts because of Labours debt when really its their policy and we have Labour Councils ie Manchester over cutting just to blame the Government.Thats politicians for you.
Made an exception here based on facts

I remember a senior Tory before the last election, stating that within Five years of the next Conservative Government there would be no NHS as we know it. Perhaps they are beginning

I am not happy about it being closed. I replied to a comment where someone tried to make out its the Governments fault when quite clearly cuts would be made whoever got in.
I notice some Council Cheif Executives have taken a pay cut I wonder if those at the top at Airedale will follow suit.
