Just wanting points of view on choice of sky or cable for this area. Especially for broadband services such as skype. Has anyone recently gone from cable to sky? Is it any better? |

I've got Virgin - Can't fault it, super fast 60Mb broadband. TIVO box in lounge & 2nd (free) box in conservatory. Virgin comes as standard with On demand & Catch up including iplayer, 4OD, itv player etc. Parents have Sky +HD and it cannot hold a candle to Virgin. |

I'm also with Virgin and have been for almost 10 years. Their internet connection is virtually faultless, I've only had 2 instances in all those years of a fault and both times it was rectified within 2 hours. As Virgin use dedicated optical fibres straight to your router there is very little to go wrong. As Peter says, the connection is 60Mb which is lighteningly quick. |

We have virgin, we got it originally as it was only option where you could simply buy your broadband only, we didn't need a landline and did not want a subscription TV service. So for us it was an ideal option, even now 6 years on we only hanve the broadband and TV package. Our broadband ancient old router and not their fault at all. It is vary rare that the service goes down and seems to hold a reliable speed. |

Just to rectify this marketing myth that Virgin do very little to discourage. They do not run fibre all the way to your router and there is actually quite a lot that can, and does, go wrong. You probably just don't notice it.

There is a lot that can go wrong with any connection, all I care is that when I turn on my mobile devices, laptop or xbox I can get internet access . I am only a leisure user at home so I don't really give a monkeys. And the only reason i had to buy a new router was because I had my own hooked up to their modem which was about 12 years old, I can hardly blame them for my own hardware failures. |
