IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Topic : stolen car boot sign |

somebody has taken the car boot dates sign from riverside field I am wondering who will benefit from its removal or what it can be used for |
|

maybe it just blew away, it has been windy. |

Further along the road towards Silsden it looks like someone has had a go at a sign at the football club. The sign showing up and coming games is bent right over almost touching the wall.Makes you wonder if it was the wind. I remember the roof of the golf driving range getting blown off. |

maybe it was them moo cows that are now in the field that did it, they got together and said we fed up of sharing our field, lets bite this of the board that as these dates on, that way nobody will know when next boot sales are on then we get left in peace ................. life is good haha |

We have reported it to the police and they are looking in to it. The wind hasn't blown it down as it would have still been in the field, the cows don't like metal other than for scratching so it looks like some scumbag has taken it away for whatever reason. The cost of replacing isn't cheap so if we have to increase our prices next year blame the culprits. If you see it around anywhere please telephone 01535 654747 and ask for David Blagden. The Silsden Car Boots will carry on. Thanks to silsden.net and those who posted it for publishing this incident. |

I can assure you the wind in the bottom of the Aire Valley could easily have lifted the sign clear of the field and even the road. "The Aire valley from Skipton through to Leeds is prone to funnelling in westerly gales" Paul Hudson But I am not saying thats what happened |

yes gazzer but like was said earlier the screws were neatly put on the wall, so doubt was the wind, do you? can the dates be displayed again please 4 the next boot sales, thanks |

A new sign should be up this week with the dates on but it is always in the Keighley News, Craven Herald and T & A plus on their web sites. Add to that the fact we are well established hopefully it won't be more than an expensive annoyance. There is no way the wind removed it unless it was carrying a screwdriver. |

Thanks to one of our regular Car Booters who was at the AGH Car Boot today who told me he thought he saw our board in the beck opposite the Golf Driving Range we have been able to retrieve the old board and re-erect it. It had been bent almost to a 90 degree angle and still had some screws through the metal in place. Looks like it was unscrewed at one end then bent in half to get it off the posts. The wind would have had to have been very clever to do it. Our sincere thanks for this information without which there wouldn't be a board until the new one is ready. |

who ever it was who took the board down must be professional cos you wont be able to do any finger printing since it was chucked over into the beck so wont show owt up hhhmmmm got me thinking now |

Their finger prints would then be on the board! If its bent and some screws are still in I would make wind 80/20 fav. Whatever I would make double sure it is secure because if it was the wind and it happened again and hit a car it could be serious. Incidently if it happened on Tuesday the wind was strong enough for planes to abort landing at Leeds/Bradford www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-3109517/Strong-winds-force-two-planes-abort-landings-Leeds-Bradford-Airport-minute-divert-Manchester.html This despite planes can land in these winds www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-2908198/It-s-skill-pilots-Amazing-video-shows-planes-battle-high-winds-Leeds-Bradford-airport-approaching-runway-SIDEWAYS.html |
