Questions raised over consultation into £7 million Keighley road improvement scheme The article in the KN goo.gl/UxO6Kh This really is another waste of money and time. It will do nothing to alleviate congestion on Hard Ings. McDonald's must have a lot of influence on Bradford Council or why would there be provision for a right turn into McDonald's which will be across a dual carriageway - they are building into the design accidents "waiting to happen". They have even put a few more sets of traffic into the plan to slow things down. Perhaps it would be better to take the southbound "through traffic" off the A629 and along Royd Ings Avenue (though the industrial estate). It could then be filtered back onto the A650. For more details of the proposal (AND BETTER MAPS) please see the following: Leaflet bradford.moderngov.co.uk/documents/s10877/Hard%20Ings%20Road%20Consultation%20Leaflet.pdf Briefing Pack bradford.moderngov.co.uk/documents/s10878/Hard%20Ings%20Road%20Briefing%20Pack.pdf |

They can not be serious! They ask for consultation? But we all know they will not listen to any of the points raised. It should be dual carriageway all along the length, with NO right turns, ( That way traffic will keep moving. (Which is what they say all this is about) No more lights at all, traffic flows better at roundabouts without lights, there is already an underpass at the Victoria park end of the road, anybody wishing to cross can use that, why have more reasons for traffic to have to stop? They will say it is to make it safer! So why do we have to take our live in our hands every time we want to cross the A.V.T.R.? A road which is far more dangerous that this new road will be. |

quoteI thought there already was a right turn into mcdonalds/garage etc Yes there is, but a right turn across a single carriageway is a bit different to trying to turn right across a dual carriageway. BTW I think this consultation is a tick box exercise. The scheme is supposed to be completed by 2019/20 so expect major delays if you want to go anywhere south once they start work. |

You you would like to comment on the Hard Ings scheme you can complete a short survey, the results will go through to Bradford https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/pnpmyg3 |

it does look like a sticking plaster approach. I can't see how this will help traffic flow between two proper dual carriageways, it's not even a dual carriageway design, its a 4 lane single carriageway. I agree with Peter, the obvious solution here is to use Royd Ings for one direction of travel & Hard Ings for the other but that would be massively more expensive than this plan |

quoteWhy? The traffic going along Royd Ings would not need to be a dual carriageway and it's a wide road with little traffic anyway. It might need to be resurfaced, I can never understand why industrial estate roads are so badly maintained, don't they pay their council tax like the rest of us? For a better map: bradford.moderngov.co.uk/documents/s10877/Hard%20Ings%20Road%20Consultation%20Leaflet.pdf |

Hat, if it were dual carriageway for it's whole length? ambulances wanting to turn right out of the ambulance station would have to turn left and go around the roundabout, wasting valuable time. |

The ambulance depot has a functioning traffic light system( just like the fire station ) but for some reason both services fail to use them, they prefer to enter mainstream traffic with just 2 and blues. |

For a better map: bradford.moderngov.co.uk/documents/s10877/Hard%20Ings%20Road%20Consultation%20Leaflet.pdf Because both ends would need linking up properly. it would need a new slip road off the trunk road to join directly to royd ings and avoid royd way regardless of direction of use, and the other end would need linking via aireworth road |

It would simplify what they are proposing to do and that is going to be a waste of £7m |

Work progressing towards Keighley's new £7 million dual carriageway More information www.keighleynews.co.uk/news/news_keighley/15604910.Work_progressing_towards_Keighley__39_s_new___7_million_dual_carriageway/ PS the comments are worth a read |

so if this 'simple' widening of a couple of hundred yards of an existing road is going to cost £7M, can you imagine how much a Silsden bypass would cost, given the terrain it would have to cross? multiply that by a factor of 10 & double it i reckon. How much is developer funding going to provide towards that? |
