I thought breach of the peace was a crime? As usual people cannot hold their drink without resorting to violence, there was a brawl in bridge street a few weeks ago, at 5pm on a saturday afternoon, get a bit of nice weather, or a bank holiday and it turns into the wild west, when will these idiots grow up |

they will only grow up when they get to about 40/50 years old but then you will have another generation fighting then so its a never ending saga |

its just our genes that cause it we are the British and in the mix of our genes which hark back to tribal times i.e. Anglo Saxon mixed with the old British tribes add a bit of Viking a sprinkling of Roman in short we are war like  so with a bit of beer old habits surface its just the way we are get used to it no one died |

Localman is spot on. Roman records commnet on boozy locals and all through history since then. The commnet is aimed at those people who think today's social ills are something new. They are not, it is natural to remember 'the good old days' and forget the 'bad ones'. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) But what is it about our culture that says if you go out for a drink it's a good idea to get blathered and make a nuisance of yourself? Why can't people drink responsibly? Are their lives so sad that they need regular oblivion as an escape? Sorry, that's rhetoric, I don't believe that is the case, what I really think is that we need a change from the ingrained belief that being an idiot because you're boozed up is acceptable. No-one died?! maybe not this time, but that's a crap excuse for violent behaviour. We need far tougher licensing laws making landlords responsible for not serving people who are already drunk and we need real substantial fines and month long bans from all local pubs for anti social behaviour stemming from alcohol use. I'll get down off my soapbox now. |
