A quote from the Keighley News - Organisers of Silsden's first-ever gala fun day are hoping to raise enough money for a bandstand. The fun day, due to take place on Saturday, July 29, at Silsden Park, will replace Silsden Carnival, which folded last year. The event has been boosted with a £2,500 grant from Silsden Town Council and hopes are high that it will receive enthusiastic support from residents. Absloutely brilliant idea, hope everyone will support the event! Think what a bandstand in the park could do for the community and promote family use of the park! |

Wouldn't it be nice if everyone could be positive and upbeat in a thread? Can't we celebrate somebody in the town doing something without looking for the negatives? |

In the70s Silsden United football club used the old band stand to get changed.Befor the small room in the pavilion was used. |

just a pity the town council could not have support the carnival committee with a bit more funding when they need it. but i hope it all gose well for them. it takes a lot of hard work to do a event like that. |

Wouldn't it be nice "cob" if you got the facts before you criticised the town council! Is it impossible to have a positive thread about any subject without someone in this town having to take the blame? |

Alan I agree with you every one has always had it in for the council since the days of the late Nellie and Horace Fortune and Jack Barker who did there up most for Silsden in the past |
