IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Topic : When did it Happen? |

Can anybody help me? I must be getting old, I can’t for the life of me remember the dates when either the Aire Valley Trunk Rd was built, or even when the new Steeton/Silsden Railway Station were built. I am fairly sure it was sometime in the eighties but just when was it? |

When living in Morley in the early 1980s I remember the traffic jams from the dales through Keighley. I think it must have been in the mid 1980s. I know the railway station reopened in the early 1990s as it was one of the reason we looked at Silsden becasue of the rail access to Leeds. Did not need it as I used the bike but when house buying we always consider the public transport option. Two wheels do not like ice so it was a practical back up. |

The Crosshills/Steeton & Steeton/keighley sections of the Airevalley Trunk Road were opened on 2nd August 1988 by the then minister Peter Bottomley, It Rained. As to the Station I cant' remember either but Kath Hardcastle organised a trip to Morecambe by rail to comemorate. |

The station re-opened in 1990 (after the original was closed in 1965.) |

it is weird, i can remember queuing through utley going into keighley, & at hawcliffe corner coming home but i can't remember the road being built, other than the temporary bridge they had over the old level crossing at steeton |

i can remeber running the fun run that was held towards crosshills and then back again to the silsden roundabout. That was the day it was officially opened i think. |

Does anyone know a site showing the proposed M650? Looked an horrendous idea. |

Found the pathetic motorway site so solved it myself. Up through Howarth it was to join the M65. Wonder whose wondrous idea that one was? |

I remember cycling down the trunk road towards Keighley and the road only being half way through construction. The road stopped about level with Utley! I remember it was really weird to be riding our bikes on a completely deserted road and it just stopping dead! Seems like ages ago now, must be getting old. |
