as an silsdener(not cobbydaler as not born here )for 40 years and a local neighbourhood watch co-ordinator, the local nhw officer has contacted me about the number of worried people who saw the programme on bbc this week on how easy it is to break the cheap version of these europrofile upvc door locks and gain entry to properties,so as i said in earlier topic on here if any silsden pensioners need help measuring/buying/and or fitting the cisa steel strengthened locks let me know on here i will measure and fit for free if you get and or pay for said locks, fitting is easy and is only one screw the knack is to get the right length of lock so it wont stick out beyond the handle, just leave message on here and i will give u a contact number ps these strengthened locks are also made to lock on both sides so if someone did manage to break one (not likley) the other half left in the door keeps the door locked from the inside, the older cheap europrofile locks wont do this and are absolute rubbish and are usually under a tenner the new cisas are somewhere around £25 to £35 each, and have coded keys,so u can have same key for front and back lock or seperate keys, |

Greengrass I have seen a recording of one of these locks being snapped and the door opened, it took just 13 seconds and hardly made a sound. I've had mine changed. |

hi pete brought this up a while ago, only got to fit 1 set but dont do it anymore but willing to give advice on these locks or contact the sites on peters thread, the newer ones are astral cisa en1303 and have steel strips in them and cant be snapped like the old ones and have the new type keys. screwfix kly do a yale version and pickards kly do a locksafe version these locks are £20 plus could be a little cheaper online but if under £20 they could be anti bump type you need anti snap type to british standard en 1303 2005,,new update have just found some to en1303 std for £12.99 on ebay and are anti snap a bargain, they have come down in price since i did this thread 2 years ago |
