I'm researching the Cockshott family and have a photograph of John Cockshott AKA Jackie Trapp. Does anyone have any information about him? The photograph was passed to me and the origins were from a book. I don't know what year it was. I'm writing a book of family history and would appreciate any information. Thanks. |

Hello Mandy69.I am a member of Silsden Local History Group and have a small amount of information about John Cockshott's family in Silsden. There appears to be little about John himself but more regarding his son Amos who was a Clog Iron Maker. Amos lived at the bottom of our street and I remember him well. There is a permanent display at Cliffe Castle Museum in Keighley with film of Amos making clog irons. There are also records of children born to John Cockshott and his wife Margaret. Seven in total, not including Amos,born between 1876 and 1902.If you wish me to send you any information I have and can provide me with an email address I will gladly do so. |
