This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Hi all,
Would just like to say what a great thing they have done at the top level crossing in putting in some "speed?" humps.
Next year when the cyclists are cycling down Bolton rd at 40 to 50 miles per hour and they approach the ramps and then think oh my goodness and then they fill their pants!!!!! sacre bleu!!!!!
I would like to have the contract for fishing the cyclists out of our fish pond.

look forward to paying for it all to be removed.

Ha ha dogcatcher you are hilarious, you should apply for the star role in the next pantomime!!! Yet more council decisions wasting the taxpayers money. One day we are going to have some common sense in them chambers.

I was watching people cross that said crossing this weekend and there were some who don't wait for the traffic to stop they simply walked straight across. Surely its common sense to wait till the traffic has stopped?
Pelican crossing would possibly have been the best answer and in the long run the cheapest?

As the posts on the other thread says they only mention pelican for the bottom crossing and as Peter says the top crossing will be a ski jump. Glasses for Dodzie please or too much Christmas spirit has been had by you!!!!

£12K was the quote given by Bradford Highways to alter the pavements and create the ski-jump.

Was it worth it?

Instead of raising the road, why didn't they lower the kerb?

It would make Mallinson Hall even less DDA Compliant than it is now.

Maybe the Tour will be re-routed to miss this deathly crossing once the organisers find out. Either that or put a wall across and watch the cyclists try and negotiate that as well. Should make for brilliant television!!

As anyone who has been in France will know crossings of this type are very common and so common on the Tour route. Just as France has taken to the round about from this country taking the raised crossing from them seems fair exchange.
Most riders will be wondering why there are so few on the route.

I think you will find that all of the teams will research the route first. Some of them will ride it beforehand as well. The crossing shouldn't pose a risk.

So explain why the council are removing them just for the tour in Huddersfield?
