doesnt really matter the perp will probably get a light wrap on the knuckles nothing more
HF often watches these police interceptor type programs at the end they say stuff like
the joy rider who smashed into 5 cars nearly killed 3 police officers and was doing 120mph the wrong way down the M6 got a suspended sentance
the drug dealers who rammed 2 police cars was speading at 60mph round the estate and crashed into the take away window got 2 months in prison and banned from driving
why are all the sentences so light i would say bring back hanging for serious crimes
the only problem with that is if the evidence later shows they were innocent you cant bring back the dead |

3 strikes and your out! then you get 2 leanient sentences, but 3rd offence life, which means the uk gets slave labour, so cheeper goods. if the refuse to work or do substandard work its solitary!

on jennings close the residents have all been in at the time. They have loaded up the cars with the goods and used their vehicles to get away. on one occasion just the car was taken, mostly high performance audi type. there has been a high number of "sales type" people wandering around the waterside area. Are they reckying the cars?? who knows, but be vigilant and report anything you see to the local NPT. Patio doos were removed in one burglary so get some sash jammers from any DIY place if you have them...these people obviously come prepared. |

did the burglaries on jennings close happen during the day or at night? did the residents hear them? I hope that if it happened to me I would hear if someone was in the house, its very scary to think that criminals will risk getting into houses that are occupied, you would think they would go for the easy option and choose an unoccupied house.I wonder if the burglar that was caught on Lowfield was responsible for the jennings close ones, does anyone know whether the perpetrators of those crimes were caught or if the cars were ever recovered |

The Jennings close was was 4am. It was me. Security lights were tampered with and no I did not hear them sneak around the house. They must be v quiet. The car was a Prius so no chance of hearing that go !! Just sorting CCTV out now as another deterrent. The second Jennings close job was about 8pm but that was just the car. |

Dont like the sound of this. We have a alarm and to be honest I would not want to go to bed without it on. Put it on through the day and if any alarms go through the day around by us there is always someone comes out to see whos it is. I know they can cut wires etc but at least we are trying |

I saw some salesmen whilst walking the dog about 6 months ago and remember only seeing them knocking on houses at ends of roads. @fatty, most alarms should sound if/when tampered with. @happysnapper, make sure CCTV equipment has a backup power supply. |

it does make you wonder if these crooks have been taking a look around the whole area, monitoring comings and goings, makes of cars etc,or are they just opportunists? whatever the answer,it's scary to think they are coming in to your house when you're asleep, and makes you wonder what you would do if you heard someone downstairs.Happysnapper...do you know if they were the same ones as Lowfield?( that's if the police have told you) and if so...I hope they get their just deserts. |

What worries me is they are doing it whilst people are in. It shows they may not be bothered if they have a confrontation! What are/have the police done if they can do anything? |

Heard nothing from the police since it happened so not sure if it was the same gang or not. At the end of the day if they want to get in they can, all you can do is try to make it as hard as possible for them. Lets hope they string him up by the ********'s

No chance, even if they do get caught they won't have to pay for damages, your insurance will and your premiums will go up. Along with everyone elses in the area.
All an alarm and CCTV do is make it harder and therefore more likely they will look for an easier target. I think an alarm is a must but maybe CCTV is overkill. |

last i heard was the thief got caught but had no incriminating evidence. the police were checking for fingerprints and also searching nearby gardens for part of the doorlock which had been smashed off. so most probably is roaming the streets again |

It would have been helpful if a pcso called to all the houses on the streets affected and told residents what is going on,the police website is not updated daily, only monthly and it does not really give a true indication because some incidents are just lumped together under the title of "other crimes".It seems very poor that the person who was burgled on jennings close has heard nothing further fom the police.Mind you, we were burgled in 1994 and are still waiting!!! |

I see from the police web site that a 34 year old bradford man is on bail pending results of forensic tests in relation to 2 burglaries and being equipped to comit crime on the 17th/18th february. It sounds like the break ins on Jennings and the attempts on lowfield/telford are linked, lets hope the police have enough evidence to get him to court and locked up |

On the subject of scum! Did anyone happen to see on Sunday night (8.30ish) the lunatic who quite obviously had escaped from the asylum? H stopped my car in Briggate and tried to smash the side window. Obviously he wasn't strong enough so did no damage. Last I saw of him he was staggering down Briggate. In future I will carry my cricket bat in the car with me and show him some Andrew Strauss cover drives!! |

Note on whacking a Burglar.
So long as you can show that you were protecting yourself and your family from harm then there cannot be a prosecution.
All the problem cases seem to involve burglars being caught held and then beaten up, or shot while running away.
There are plenty of cases of people killing intruders and not being prosecuted. Do not seem to get the same press though.
So if you catch one and tie them up to restrain them then call the police that is OK. Just do not wack them with the cricket bat.
If you walk out of yor bedroom holding cricket bad and confront burglar, whack him and he fall down stairs and breaks neck then I think one would find that it is classified as self defence.
Remember any case would involve a jury trial so the evidence for conviction is usually pretty damning. |

It all comes down to your intention, did you pre-meditate your resolve (e.g. seeing/ hearing someone breaking an entry and running out with a baseball bat) or was it spur of the moment (e.g. you are confronted with an intruder and pick up a kids cricket bat that you saw laying around to defend yourself with). |
