do you think silsden should have it's own pantomime in the town hall around christmas? and if anyone is interested would they please get in touch) and i will try to set up a panto for next year.they are pretty successful in other towns and villages and could incorporate local business and school support. any ideas( sensible of course, have already heard the one about pantomimes being held in the town hall once a month!!) and offers of help would be great. |

i'll be louis, we could involve real animals too, i'll hire some lions and rhinos and we could make them act out scenes from shakespeare, theres a little shed ot the back of the town hall that we could store them in.....alan and wahiba would love this idea as they are eager for wild animals to get involved in normal society. |

Blimey didn't realise that there were lions and rhinos grazing in Jackson's field, the story just gets better with the telling
Pity you didn't read my posts properly "TED" |

Being very serios I do think it's an excellent idea and would be willing to help.
No acting parts though and I certainly won't be an ugly sister |

looks like you are the one and only offer of help or interest in such a venture alan, so guess the answer is no, silsden does not need a panto! |

'alliecoward' hope you don't give up because of the lack of response on here.
Let's at least give it a go! |

I would definitely be interested in getting involved.
I used to study Performing Arts and have done patnomines and musicals (all be it a long time ago).

I think it would be great to have a local Panto and I would certainly support it in terms of going to see it. My family love live entertainment and support the Keighley Amateurs at every show they do.
Sadly I have two left feet, can't dance, can't sing and can't learn lines, so not much practical help here, but definately a vote of confidence.
Just a thought, maybe if you contacted various groups like the Liz Philips(?) school of dance and the baton twirlers (majorettes?) you might have more luck.

hurray, two more interested!! i thought the whole point of a pantomime was it really does'nt matter whether or not you've got two left feet, can dance or act, involvement is the key. so no getting out of a part so quickly!!! my next step is to ask the press and the council for help. i was hoping to be able to use the town hall as it's got a stage, and a bar!! and ask all local businesses, schools etc if they would be interested in appearing/supporting etc. we could make this a great family night out, with something for everyone. any ideas for first panto?? after next council meeting i will let everyone know of a suitable meeting place and time and the sooner people can get together to throw ideas into the hat the better. remember every offer of help, no matter how small will be accepted gratefully. |

Now you've got me thinking. Cinderella is always a good one.
I think one of the major expenses is coming up with the money to buy the right to use music, unless you are lucky enough to have someone to compose for you.
Also it might be worth contating local music tutors who might have some enthusiatic students who might be interested. |

asking around the local children cinderella seems to be a firm favourite.i've also managed to get on board an exemployee of ytv who worked in the media for many years, and is coming to the town hall to see the set up.( my dad can always be relied on!!)and he's been in pantos for years. what we need now apart from offers of moneyare joiners, painters, builders, artists, musicians, choreographers, pr people...get the word out!!! |
