yes as from tonight,no opening date u can turn left just before bends down far side and go by west end and back on to the a59 at top of fewston res below hopper lane pub  |

Was on that road this morning going to Harrogate and was surprised it was still open. The volume of water that has been coming off that banking over the past 2 weeks was very heavy. Good move to make on safety grounds, quite a detour for H.G.V. |

Thanks for that dogcatcher - used the ilkley route this morning but it was well busy - will try that route home!!! |

just been over and come back( 15.00 hours)today weds round the small lane detour (only suitable for cars and vans) and main rd still blocked and will be until rain has stopped and hillside gets all clear  |

so you can still get to the patley bridge turn off and then back on a blubberhouses - AA has the whole thing shut! Was there much traffic - bet most of it was frightened off |

Ilkley gas works have been postponed due to the A59 being shut: www.northerngasnetworks.co.uk/2016/01/upgrade-planned-for-ilkleys-ageing-metal-gas-mains-postponed/ The traffic lights there are for a sewer which has collapsed due to the flooding. |

The side road round the closure was closed as well by the time I got to it - had to come back via patley bridge and dude to the state of the roads grassington and skipton. Not good!!! There are still road works in Ikley and Huby! |

according to t&a, gas works in Ilkley only postponed until collapsed sewer is fixed, it does not mention the A59 as being a reason |

yes they have closed this small detour as it was getting known beyond locals and being used as a rat run even by wagons and passing was difficult |

I think the council were supposed to review the situation on Monday - does anyone know if its still closed??? |

Google maps states it's still closed. |

my daughter lives right where its blocked off at top of fewston res and went to the council meeting at the sun inn at norwood last night, and the latest off the north yorks county council is it COULD be closed for up to 5 months  |

Yeah spoke to the clerk this morning and she said the same......I hope not!! |

I think the traffic through Silsden has declined slightly since this road was closed, as in not queued at tea time to the roundabout as often. It will be interesting to see if it picks up when the road re-opens. |
