This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

I understand demolition will begin early this week. Perhaps someone from the camera club or history group might want to get some photo's. I know its not really history yet but will be in future years.

Does anyone know who's bought it and what their plans are? I heard a whisper that one of the supermarket chains showed an interest in it.

I hope it will not be a case of levelling and leaving it!

I understand at this moment it is a case of pulling it down. It needs it to make it safe and stop it being a magnet for scrap thieves.

The official line is, To be demolished and removed as it is a potential Health & Safety time bomb.

New usage not as yet defined but do not rule out retail or housing.

Not sure what the price would be now but when it first became empty it was for sale at £4 million.

I seem to remember that when BMDC looked at putting a recycling plant down in the area, that it was designated as an "employment area". The price of the area was £3.5 million.
