This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

So there I was, trundling down Howden road to the roadwork lights outside the Toyota garage. Bus pulls up behind a car waiting at the red traffic light on the 3-way control of traffic along Howden Road / Craven Drive.

We sat there ages . . . about 5 secs . . . then the yellow, double deck, school bus pulls out, goes around the waiting car and through the roadworks . . ah ha, thinks I, the car in -front is parked/waiting/bust and the lights gone green . . .

Except no - it hadn't and 'nor had the light - it was still red. So we both watched the bus have to slow right down to squeeze thro the other end of the roadworks.

Traffic had stopped at the other end - but who said Craven Drive wasn't at green and someone was about to pop out from behind the parked cars?

As my mum said today after a trip to Batley - driving standards today are bad!

Wonder who I call to ask about yellow buses and red traffic lights - I believe, theoretically, roadworks lights are only advisory, but even so, courtesy would imply you wait . . .

The contact details for Keighley and District are here

www.keighleyanddistrict.co.uk/contact/index.asp

Last week I set off from Craven Drive when the lights were green - good job I checked to the left as a car shot through the red light. If I hadn't checked then he would have hit me.

Perhaps he thought the lights were stuck on red all three ways as they were at 7-30 this morning

They are not stuck on red both ways on Howden Road, it is actually a 3 way traffic light system, the other light being in Craven Drive to let the residents out. It's just that the numpties haven't bothered to put a sign up to say it's a 3-way light system. sad :(sad :(angryangry

The "when red light shows wait here" signs all have 3 way traffic lights at the top of the sign.

My mistake, I saw the lights from the Craven Drive side when I walked there the other day (didn't notice anything about the lights being 3-way).

Doesn't beat what I saw on Thursday evening about 5.15pm.
I was waiting at end of Elliott Street to nip across to Clog Bridge, when a car came over the bridge and heading straight on. The driver was actually having a shave with an electric shaver, using his mirror for guidance!!

I think the signs are a recent addition Peter.
