I have just walked through Silsden and am totally ashamed of the town hall. It is in a disgusting state it would look ok in a SLUM. Who is in charge of keeping it clean please. Someone mentioned the toilets and as far as I am concerned it is equally as bad. |

Often wondered what income is generated from the rates we pay, and what percentage is ploughed back into our area, or does more go to inner city projects. We pay, can't we get something back. |

The town hall doesn't have a caretaker anymore. When it did he used to do little painting jobs and kept it tidy. Last year both Conservative and Labour voted to remove the caretaker so no one is looking after it now. |

Last year both Conservative and Labour voted to remove the caretaker so no one is looking after it now. My understanding was that the budget was voted through by a coalition of Labour,Greens and one independent(not Counc Naylor). www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/9551442.Bradford_Council_agrees___28_million_package_of_cuts/ |

The Conservatives published their own budget which was mainly a cut and paste job of Labour's they both had the same cuts re dog wardens and Silsden caretaker |

If I am reading all this correct we will have to lump it for money being spent!! Do we have a group who would take on the cleaning of the windows now and again and make the window boxes look nice if nothing else. How about one of the local window cleaners offering to do them now and again (and I dont mean every week |

Jean i would love to do them 3 or 4 times a year free of charge but its not as simply as that .They need to see ins and you have to sign disclaimers also if anyone is in there at the time you need aa CRB which i have for other properties it is such a political minefield that i just didnt want to get involved and i think that this is the way of the world these days you cant offer your services for fear of them being sued |

I totally agree the Town Hall looks shabby and gives a poor reflection of the ethos of the community. Come on Silsdeners and Offcumdens this should be a central point to be proud of. It does not give the right message about our caring community. Can the town councillors facilitate some community responsibility ? I would be willing to give time and effort. |

I find it hard to believe that there has been no response from anyone on the town council. Surely they must feel ashamed at the state of the main municipal building in Silsden. What do the Civic Society have to say I would have thought they must have some input into how their town looks |

The town councilors put quite a lot of time and effort into "doing" for the town of Silsden, you just dont always see it all going on. There is also an enviromental group working alongside the TC to tidy up Silsden. |

I thought that Silsden Town Hall was owned and maintained by Bradford Council according to the notices with Bradford's name on the outside of the building perhaps that's why the Town Council haven't responded since, they don't own it. The two ground floor rooms were done up by either the Town Council or Councillor Naylor I think. It's years since Bradford have done anything to the building. The entrance hall was painted by the caretaker of his own bat rather than Bradford. |

Its ironic that Bradford Council closed our reading room down, which was located in the Town Hall. We were told not to worry as papers would still be available for the future in the library. |

We need an action plan. Any suggestions who to approach first ? Should we have a community meeting of those interested ? This would be to identify much needed improvements, legal and health/ safety barriers. |
