Well I guess the hustings have officially started with the first television confrontation. Cameron & Miliband Live - interviewed by Paxman (Chan 4, 26 Mar 2015) www.channel4.com/programmes/cameron-miliband-live-the-battle-for/on-demand/61656-001 _____________ Note, I will set up another topic for the local elections which will also be held on 7 May) PLEASE DO NOT mix the two, you really should not be voting along party lines for the local elections, it should be the best candidate for the job. |

Now that Ed is no longer reliant on a biased press it seems that a lot of people are thinking he has the makings of the next PM. Hope so, another five years of the hooray Henry's ahhh! |

The Tories are promising everything in the hope enough fools will believe them and vote for them. It is all jam tomorrow and has we know tomorrow never comes. If they were truly wanting to save the country from bankruptcy, they would be putting up the tax on the rich who can afford it, not cutting everything that they do not think will effect them! |

All parties are promising everything in the hope enough fools will believe them and vote for them. The Tories want to cut spending too much too quick and Labour want to spend money we dont have. Not much of a choice really |

Jon Trickett MP vice chair of the party and Lord Roy Hattersly, great veteran politician and dog wrangler will speak. John Grogan our parliamentary candidate will give his formal adoption address. Please note; it's a launch NOT a Q&A event. But if you do have questions or challenges for John we will be arranging local issue and/or specific policy meets too. Voted for less money for local authorities. Voted against more power for local authorities. Communist central control is the order of the day. |

quoteVoted for less money for local authorities. Voted against more power for local authorities. Communist central control is the order of the day. Cant imagine many people think Bradford Council should have more powers. Can you point out where he voted less money for local authorities and I should add although the amounts may differ all parties would have cut back |

He voted strongly against central funds for local government. To counter this a local authority needs more control overs it's actions and ability to raise funds. As he voted against local authorities having more control one must assume that he is in favour of communist style central control. The rest of his record is definitely nasty party. Thanks for the voting links. Support the rich and screw the poor has been the order or the day for our MP. |

quoteHe voted strongly against central funds for local government. one must assume that he is in favour of communist style central control. So you say he voted "against" central funds for local government which, you say. means we should assume he wants central control!!Bit of a contradiction. I think I know what you wanted to say but whatever party was in charge there would have been cuts to local government. The last Labour Government left the cuboard bare. This was the 2010 Labour manifesto in case you forgot Tough choices for £15 billion efficiency • savings in 2010-11. • Tough choices on cutting government overheads: £11 billion of further operational efficiencies and other cross-cutting savings to streamline government will be delivered by 2012-13. • Tough choices on pay: action to control public-sector pay including a one per cent cap on basic pay uplifts for 2011-12 and 2012-13, saving £3.4 billion a year, and new restrictions on senior pay-setting. Tough decisions on public sector pensions to cap the taxpayers’ liability – saving £1 billion a year. • Tough choices on spending: £5 billion already identified in cuts to lower priority spending. • Tough choices on welfare: our reforms will increase fairness and work incentives, including £1.5 billion of savings being delivered. • Tough choices on assets: £20 billion of asset sales by 2020. • Tough choices on tax: a bonus tax, reduced tax relief on pensions for the best off, a new 50p tax rate on earnings over £150,000 and one penny on National Insurance news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi/pdfs/12_04_10_labour_manifesto.pdf |

The parties should take note of this NHS poll Posted at 08:51 A new poll suggests a majority of people in Britain support tax rises as a way of funding the NHS. An Ipsos MORI survey of nearly 1,800 found 85% thought the NHS should be protected from cuts. And 59% said they supported tax rises as a way of achieving that A tax rise and reduction of NHS managers is the only way to protect the NHS |

I must admit to some surprise, and pleasure in seeing the Torys on the back foot so soon. I think UKIP has really rattled them. Also Ed seems to have become a Teflon man. Slag someone off long enough as the Tory press has been Ed, without any substance to most of their rubbish and it will always come back and bite you. The Mail and Express pride themselves in standing up for the underdog. Really they shouldn't be surprised when the public starts looking at the underdog they have failed to bully. |

The Liberal Democrats are launching a "five-point plan", aimed at consumers and commuters, with proposals such as to end above-inflation rail fare rises and force energy firms to allow customers to change supplier within 24 hours Labour says its spending cuts will apply to Scotland but may be offset by other measures to raise more money One hundred small business owners, some of which used to support Labour, have written a letter to the Sun saying they intend to vote Tory Labour has opened up a three-point lead over the Conservatives, according to the latest YouGov poll which puts Ed Miliband's party on 36% |

most definitely did not work for me, it suggested I was green, they are the last party I would ever vote for in a general election, it might help if they got rid of that awful Australian woman, she looks like she is chewing a wasp |

The SNP is hoping that a hung parliament gives them a chance to do a deal with one of the major powers. There is though one scenario that has not been broached. Assuming a 'draw' between Labour and the Conservatives. There is nothing to stop Labour and the Conservatives doing a deal to keep the country ticking over while another general election is set up. This would call the SNP bluff. Bluster but no power. The electorate then has to make a proper decision dumping all the wannabes. |

I'm still struggling to make a decision on which way to vote. I do not want to see a Labour Government, Greens are a Joke, Liberal Democrat not much better, UKIP looking and sounding promising, despite all the hype a few months ago about them being a party of racists etc. I do not class myself as racist and I apologise to anyone that thinks I am. The country has allowed too many immigrants in, for too long, many of which are unskilled and are benefit migrants. However, they have allowed some really good, talented people the opportunity to live and work in t Britain. UKIP is the only party to say in their manifesto to back the countryside. They pledge to protect green belt and prioritise building houses on brown belt. |

UKIP are running on a lie. Their premise is that it will be gold for every one once we leave the EU. No more EU rules keeping us back. Trouble is no one can actually show how the EU is,holding us back. Government investigations show the opposite, so are not published. To actually trade with the EU would require all their rules to be followed, as Norway and Switzerland have to now. Also a lot of firms would leave the UK for European bases, much the same as has been happening from Scotland to England. UKIP policies would be disastrous. |

If you missed it - Cameron: SNP in Westminster is a "frightening prospect" - 19 Apr 2015 www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02phn1s The Prime Minister said the SNP are 'a group of people who wouldn't care about what happened in the rest of the country' and that the rest of the United Kingdom 'wouldn't get a look in'. Speaking on the Andrew Marr show David Cameron said 'The SNP is a party that doesn't want to come to Westminster to contribute to a government; it wants to come to Westminster to break up our country." |
