This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Posted on behalf of a Hainsworth Road resident.

The following picture shows the Yorkshire water manhole cover and culvert broken allowing sewerage and dirty water escaping into the Silsden Beck (at the base of the buttress supporting the canal aqueduct, behind 16-18 Hainsworth Road), which will flow into the river. Also shows the erosion of the ground around the culvert, not only undermining the curtilage wall at 16 & 18 Hainsworth Road but making access to the beck hazardous. This area of the beck is popular with children, dog-walkers and people fishing.

This shows the beck at present, with tons of stone which was washed down at the last storms, which is causing a problem with the ongoing flow off water into the river and may contribute to flooding in the winter.

The following pictures show the road manhole cover connecting previous picture (1) which is damaged and a footway which is a hazard for people walking under the viaduct.

All these problems have been identified to:-

The Environment Agency.
Yorkshire Water.
Silsden Council representative.

The result has produced no action, despite Yorkshire Water regularly putting a camera down the manholes.
