IMPORTANT PLEASE READ This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Topic : PLANNING for DISABLED ACCESS to TOWN HALL |
|
Peter |
The planning for the proposed ramp to enable disabled access to the town hall will be reviewed by Silsden Town Council on Thursday 18 April. Anyone can attend the meeting BUT you will not be able to say anything which will be (can be) taken into consideration at the meeting. The agenda for planning 18 April silsden.net/town_council/docs_13/13_planning/STC_Gp_&_Planning_agenda_apr2013.pdf BUT if you wish to support, or object, to this planning proposal you should make your views using the link below ASAP (like NOW) 13/00459/FUL | Alterations to front entrance and re-installation of escape stairs to rear | Town Hall Kirkgate Silsden West Yorkshire BD20 0PB www.planning4bradford.com/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=MHP8CXDHLT000 |

quoteAccording to the heritage statement: the "architectural Character of this Conservation Area will most certainly consist of - The landmark buildings which make a contribution to the City of Bradford historic skyline." [!!] sorry was hard to believe this so looked and also noted that the reference quoted was an 2008 plan for 55 well street, bradford regarding a door - do we conclude that this wasn't an overly deep investigation to produce this report. Also interesting who wrote it. |

Peter |
I am confused by this Heritage Statement - is the author of the Heritage Statement the very same Ade Faboro Davidson who put the planning application in? ![]() www.planning4bradford.com/online-applications/files/C2DE4CEDD13400FE33FC04831566E25B/pdf/13_00459_FUL-HERITAGE_STATEMENT-3711468.pdf ... and produced such statements when refering to the proposed ramp as: The Heritage case, the cases for Listed Building and Conservation Area consent associated with the localised impacts of the masterplan on Silsden town, and the consideration of the Refurbishment Plan Proposals in terms of its impact upon the wider Conservation Area is dependent on two essential principles: - a) That notwithstanding localised physical intervention into the existing fabric of Silsden, the proposal must be seen to preserve or enhance the essential character and universal values associated with its Conservation Area designation. - b) [Where a localised physical impact on the existing built fabric is necessary, that such an impact will be minimized and, on balance, be outweighed by the social, economic and cultural benefits that will flow from its implementation. Note, my underlining but it looks like the words are there and they are hoping nobody will read them. How can a wart on the front of the Town Hall preserve or enhance the building?... and as for 'be outweighed by the social, economic and cultural benefits that will flow from its implementation' if the changes make it unusable for the current activities which take place in the Town Hall then it will result in reduced income. Who will pay the bills - the people of Silsden will when they sell off Wesley Place and the library. |

Why has the objection report from Brian Armstrong of Highways Dept been deleted. |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) I like the bit were they state that careful consideration has been taken in the planning of this farce. They also state that the fire service has been closely involved with the plans. I have not seen any evidence of a report from the Fire service. The plans I have seen would NOT be accepted by the Fire service!! Who exactly is the "Local Conservation Team"? Are they part of the same group that had the tin shack built up at Steeton? |

I cannot understand why not more people have put in their objections to these plans. It's quite simple to do and only takes a few minutes. If you really care about Silsden and the amenities we could lose (library building, Wesley Place building and car park) please take the time to do this. It's for the benefit of the people of Silsden, especially the children and future generations. |

quoteregarding deletion of the highways comments, better ring up and ask the question. As they don't seem to want to mention the Zebra Crossing so I thought I would put it on BDMC plans for them. I'm sure they change this plan every time I look at it. ![]() The ramp does not comply with "(the ramp) has a surface width between walls, upstands or kerbs of at least 1500mm" ![]() In the event of a fire 200 people could potentially be using this restricted exit. ![]() |

I've just read the application for the renovation. The greater majority of the form is incorrect or misleading. Opening times - Not known? No new public access? Waste and storage points - None? |
![]() |
Ockin Peron |
Do bear in mind though - anyone wanting to object to the application for the access ramp & fire escape is objecting against an application for an access ramp & fire escape, nothing more and nothing less. So some of the objections some people have raised are just nonsense, eg inadequate parking. You certainly don't need parking to justify an access ramp and whatever the rights and wrongs of the wider proposals for the building, surely no one would say the town hall shouldn't have disabled access. Having said that, it doesn't mean that the design couldn't be improved. |

I think Gazzer said that it would be a good idea to print a copy of each objection on a daily basis if BMDC are stepping up teir dirty tricks program. |

Surely If it is the Bradford Mafia who are submitting these plans, and deciding on the outcome? Then there must be a conflict of interest at the very least, if any member of the council potentially will benefit from the sale of Wesley Place and the Library, they will be committing a crime if they take any part in this process? Or are they above the law of the land? |

I've followed the temporary Internet file path, but it only comes up with 0 documents. The delete on exit icon is unchecked? I have been through all the documents on the planning site relating to the Town Hall, copied and printed a hard copy. I have rung Noreen Akhtar who told me that it could be Brian Armstrong that has retracted his objection. She said he is a senior engineer on Highways and advised that I should ring him directly - 01274 437412. |

Rung up and apparently the case officer does not know why it has been removed and will look into it. I await an e-mail response |
