anyone read about prepping in the papers today, a chap in cornwall is getting ready for a so called solar storm due later this year, a flare from the sun which will knock satellites communications,computors,electric,radio,tv and mobile phones out, and cause anarchy and breakdown of society ,hes stocked up on food and water etc bought guns to shot wildlife etc to survive,well if anyones thinking of doing it i think i might av an out of date tin of beans if they want to start .i presume this is just another one of those supposed event thats going to happen, like the last 20 or so ends of the world,its come from the website of the american conspiracy theorist jesse ventura (enough said)but one things for sure its got to happen sometime. ps it last happened in 1859 and set fire to most of the telegraph offices |

I am sure I can cope without the internet and my phone for a while. We also grow some of our own food and have an outdoor oven that is wood fired, and always have far too many things like flour to make bread. I think a lot of it is scaremongering and if you are not reliant on electicity for the very basics (I know most folks are) then why worry too much, you should always have an emergency stock in anyway of things like candles and fire wood |

I agree. With Hermoine. We are far too reliant on the creature comforts. I include myself in that. |

I am too reliant too, and more so since I lived here.
I used to live in rural Lincolnshire and we were often cut off from power or in winter snowed in. But I am sure I could cope if I had to. |
