They've been on earth for thousands of years- but hedgehogs are now at risk of becoming extinct, largely due to traffic and loss of habitat. Unless we take action, Mrs Tiggywinkle won't be around for our grandchildren to see, and that will be shame on us! Having a bonfire this weekend? Please do your bit to help hedgehogs survive! At this time of year, hedgehogs look for somewhere cosy to hibernate for the winter: and a big stack of wood always looks promising! So PLEASE, before you light the bonfire, just take a couple of minutes to check that there are no hedgehogs taking sanctuary inside. (And if there is one, please remove it to a garden or wooded area well away from the fire). Hope the good Gala folks will set a great example! |
