This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Perhaps you'd like to post details and a link to the planning application. Maybe even tell us why?

Am I right to assume they want to extend the current dental surgery into the adjoining house?

Why do you object to it then?

If folk can't park outside the door there's hell let loose. Too much hassle to park by Pauls and walk.!!!!!

What a pity that the Dental Surgery couldn't relocate to the Old Police House, that would have been an ideal location, own parking and the Gouncil car park next door.

Well said Coby. I'm sure all the people that need N.H.S Dentistry will agree. Also, let's not forget that their opening hours don't infringe on out of hours time. The traffic up Skipton Road is at its worst after they have long gone home. I also can see the point put forward by Silsden Resident, it must be a pain to have people constantly parking outside your home, especially if it takes your parking place.

This thread is like pulling teeth! wink ;)

When there is a can parked outside the dentist (on Skipton Road), it is difficult to come out of Hothfield Street onto Skipton Road safely.

Perhaps there should be some parking restriction around the Hothfield Street - Skipton Road junction. After all it is a road parents use to to deliver and collect children.

All I'm saying is it is difficult to see to come out of Hothfield Street when a car is parked outside the dentist.

The car driver could be you or me, but then perhaps you don't have a problem in your 4x4. sad :(

Has I was told, dentist tried to buy old police house but didnt mamage to get it for whatever reason.I know the parking is a pain.so it is for many in Silsden, try living near a school at kicking out time or the park when theres a rugby/football match on,then you will know what problem parking is.We just gotta try work round these things though it does get realy anoying.Do remember we dont want to lose another buisiness in Silsden.

As I was told the dentist did go for police house but didnt get it for whatever reason.Parking is a problem there but try living near a shcool at kicking out time or the park when its football or rugby.some sensible parking restrictions would sort it out for locals, but do rememeber we dont want to loose another business in Silsden.

this is one Silsden "local" business that many of us can't use....they will not take any more patients, I had some problems 3/4 years ago, and I had to go to elsewhere to get a dentist who would take me on! Naturally I have stuck with them, and they are great. They are 8 miles away.

Just to clarify things. A Dentist is allowed to have a given number of Patients, over this they can't take on,it's sad for people that need treatment, but in no way does the blame lie with the Dentist. Like a lot of other professions, there are only so many hours in the day. Perhaps this is the reason for expansion. As for the car parking issue, I'm sure some people would drive through the front door if it were possible. Legs are a thing of the past. Talking of the children, I applaud the parents who are walking their little ones to school. I think at times, the biggest threat to them is from other parents driving theirs. Take a look at Elliot St. at start and finish times, it's chaos.

Not all the patients are local.

People move away from Silsden and because of the difficulty of finding a new dentist come back to Silsden for their dental treatment. My son lives the other side of Bradford now but still goes to the dentist here (of course he drives here).

There is no problem with the dental practise expanding, and good luck to them, but perhaps the local parking does need to be looked at. If there were local parking restrictions patients would just have to park somewhere else and walk like the rest of us locals. happy :)
