Topic : AFC parking AGAIN!!! |
|
Dodzi |
I see the parking by the away parents was up to its usual standard this mornin...... |

gazzer |
How do you know they were Silsden AFC parents? Did you ask them?...thought not..did you guess?.....thought so For your information Silsden Sports Club(seperate from the football club) were today hosting football games for the junior football club which had equal numbers of Silsden AFC parents and parents from away. There was also a private function and also the town of Silsden was the choice of venue for a prestigious fell race. But you state as fact it is just Silsden AFC's parents that were badly parked. A typical use of social media in which facts do not matter. |

Gazzer, unless I'm misunderstanding something, Dodzi referred to "away parents" in his post. |

I went past at what must have been prime time and, while it wasn't great, it was a big improvement on previous years. There was no noticeable parking on the pavement and there wasn't any parking on both sides of the road. There were random people wandering in and out of parked cars on to the road, people opening car doors in to traffic, pulling out without properly checking but that's idiot drivers and very little the football club could do to stop that. |

Whatever you want to call the sports club the people parking in this area (on the pavement} were all attending a function in the sports club. The responsibility for the bad parking has to lay with management of the sports club, wheather it be policing or simple education of visitors. There have been too many excuses, sort it out please before someone is injured. |

quote There have been too many excuses, sort it out please before someone is injured. [/quote Ah Fred, if only life was so easy. The only alternative we have to the parking as it is now, is to stop junior football, and that is not an option. Our car park only holds around 30 cars, the mill land dogcatcher is on about is private land. As a small committee of volunteers we are not being unhelpful, but realistic and would welcome any help or advice from any member of our community, after all the whole facility is for the residents of Silsden. |

You might find the Rivock Edge fell race entrants had somthing to do with the poor parking today.. fellrunner.org.uk/races.php?id=3949 I saw a few athletes heading back to their cars when I passed. The football club has nothing to do with the fell race. |

Yes the runners car parking wasn't great but don't again jump at blaming the footie club. Question for Silsden people, why don't we all go down and support the guys and get behind them for once. I went down a few weeks ago, it's great and the small group of volunteers are doing a great job for Silsden. |

Why not invest in 50 or so Police Cones (or ask the police for them) as the problem seems to be with the few who double park... If cones were put down one side nobody would park there, Now before I get the usual "who's going to pay for it" crap, I am sure a bag pack at Aldi or similar would raise a good amount, and with the people of Silsden moaning I am sure if they saw the reason for the fund raising they would be happy to give. However....the junior coaches would need to be educated in what cones mean...Last year while queuing to park one of them parked to the right of the gate near the island, got out and moved a cone to the other side...which I found amazing Its a thought that may work, |

However we do have some but people do not take the slightest bit of notice. They move them or ignore them. The worst was having put cones out at 7-00am, at 9-00am a 4x4 was parked on top of one. We have put signs on the walls telling people not to park on the pavement. We have had people there telling not to park on the pavement but they ignore you. At the Tour de France I asked Keighley Cadets if they could help but trhey said they can only ask people the same and if they ignore they can not do anything. I sent this e-mail to all Silsden Junior team managers on Saturday Gary 21/03/2015 To: Chris I will be down to open the toilets but we cant use the kitchen because there is a function on and a fell race. Can managers make sure all parents know if they park on the pavement they risk a parking ticket Gary We all know the answer is yellow lines but Bradford Council can not afford them because there are better needs. The Section 106 rules change soon and will be pressing for some money to be spent on lines from that. If all you moaners can please carry on moaning so we can use the moans as evidence that lines are needed. In the meantime there will be problems caused by parking through sporting events such as the forthcoming bike race and 6-a-side football tournement. |

If the club does not make an effort to sort out the parking they will lose local goodwill. Obvious solution is double yellow line Down the beck side. If the club does not push for this they will end up with a double white line down the centre which would eliminate the problem by preventing any parking on either side. |

We are/have made an effort. We are pushing for the yellow lines you suggest. We still dont get goodwill from some people who prefer young kids to stay at home and play on Playstation instead of keeping fit |

I think what I am saying is quite reasonable - do we have to a fatality before we loose the attitude of "its not our fault". I've got to say its definitely not mine as I neither park down there or use the club, but it is someones - and in this case it is in general the users of the sports club......... And I'm also afraid I will keep on "moaning" about it until something is done - better that than sit back and wait for some poor soul to get injured. |

I also agree with you Dodzi its the users and not the Sports Club at fault. Maybe our Town Mayor would come on and verify we have been fighting for double yellow lines for 4 years now and he personally has taken up our case, as yet to no avail. We even offered to fund raise for it Dodzi also falling on deaf ears. Your thoughts on us having the "attitude its not our fault" could not be further from the truth, i along with the other 6, yes only seven committee members of the Sports Club work our b*llox off trying to ensure safety on the road. Notice we had a white line outside the date, then had it extended, and still people park on it blocking the view from Steeton as you pull out. Like gazzer says, in law we have no authority to put out the cones, but we do it anyway, and they are moved. So to all the negative comments, instead of fault finding and apportioning blame, why not come down on a Sunday and run the traffic and parking control, and see how you get on with the abuse given, it really would be a great help? |

Its not my club, I have no interest in the club. I have interest the the safety of others - and as I see it this is being compromised by the people who are using the sports club - ion which case stop them using the sports club. |

Thank you for the reply. I had no idea about the true situation. I am actually not sure who is actually responsible for policing parking on that road, council or police. There is another problem further down where dog walker park their cars just the Silsden side of the bridge. One day someone coming the bridge too fast will wack one. I checked today and realised that there is double line in the centre there so they could be booked. Any know who is responsible? |

Carry on moaning on this thread!! I had to pull up sharpish on Sunday because of someone stopping dead opposite the gates. He than put his hazard warning lights on and got out of the car, to then wander across the road. I was doing 25 mph, or there abouts. I considered giving him an earful, but figured it would be a waste of my time and effort! Stupid is as stupid does! |

Here is the link again, just in case you didn't see it. Because it seems that for all the effort to come on here that you all make to complain and moan about legal (yet annoying) parking at Silsden AFC and Cricket Club, only 26 people actually signed the petition. 11 of of them seem to be people that are the same people that make it possible for hundreds of children to play football and cricket each week, the same people that give up their time free of charge to organise games, coach your children and grand children, organise events to pay for the facilities (that get very little funding) and would not be there if it was not for those 11 people and the other parents and coaches that keep Silsden Sports club open. It really does seem like a very Lazy witch hunt! lee taylor. (theres always a real person behind a gobsh1t3) epetition.bradford.public-i.tv/epetition_core/community/confirm/A7zkY3qJjFBK67e |

Just driven though Addingham and the local football club must have been at home ,there were cars parked both sides of the road ,some on the pavement right though the main street but looked on line to see if there were any moaners but there wasn't but they know that there is a traffic problem so they slow down for it |
