This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Peter,
Are we allowed to state registration numbers on this sight?

If so i'd like to post the reg of Black BMW X5 that was parked on the pavement outside dentist this morning at around 9.20am.
Parked too close to end of Hothfield Street and on pavement. What is is with these drivers? as if the car doesn't take up enough road!!

Rant over....for now!

I say name and shame them - folk who want to break the law should face the consequences - if that consequence be 'naming and shaming', then so be it.

If the police could be bothered to ticket a few the word would soon get round. Pity they can't!

There's a Vauxhall Frontera with a CB aerial that seems to think they can park anywhare on the pavement in town!

Sorry your point is???? This post has nothing to do with stabbings etc.. it is to do with idiots parking on the footpaths. Now I do have a problem with this and I am allowed to moan, I have small children and a pushchair, I do not want them to have to share the pavements with cars. Am I wrong?? No didn't think so.

I think (and am prepared to be shot down on this), chipping consoles and selling counterfeit games are civil offences dealt with by trading standards and civil court, whereas parking on the pavement and all other motoring offences are criminal offences dealt with by the police and the criminal courts!!!

It is theft to illegally copy and fraud to sell it on as genuine or dealing in stolen goods otherwise. I am not a lawyer but know that much.

Civil law is to do with agreements between persons - not for this purpose a company is a 'person' so insurance come under civil law as it is an agreement between the insured and insurance company. False claims are fraud - criminal law.

In the UK we do not have an in-between option.

This is why there is a lot of fuss about some of the 'privatised' fining from parking companies. They are in fact civil cases and if you do not pay then they have to sue through the civil rather than criminal, whatever they might infer.

i think you will find it is not illegal to have your games console chipped but the copying of the games is if you dont own the original game ????????

many people have a chipped console to play homebrew games and to save their originals from getting scratched !!!!!

also who do you think releases the code so people can chip a console (the people who make the consoles, they wont tell you that but they do )
eg:- x box 360 sells 10 million consoles then sales drop -----release the code then sales rise again----the original nintedo 64 didnt have this problem due to the fact nintendo owned the rights to all the games

by the way,the console i was selling was chipped but had original games with it albeit sports one etc with 10 games on one disc but never the less original
