This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

I can't hear the pub, but I can definitely hear the Sunnybank many a night, especially in the summer when all the windows are open. Up to about 11pm I don't care but after that I get a bit miffed.

Gotta agree with that Coby 1.

I never understand why people buy a house and then complain about summat that was there when they moved in!

The Sunnybank club has only been in its current position for 10 years, most of the houses nearby are older than that.

And as you'll see if you actually read my post I wasn't complaining about what they do before 11pm but I think that after that they should close the windows or turn the bass down. And our house was here well before the Sunny Bank was built.

And I do know the thread was started about the Robin but the principle is the same and I'll join in whatever threads I like thanks, last time I looked Peter was still moderator not you guys :-P

But were YOU there before Sunnybank was built?

That would be the question to those who don't like the Robin, it don't matter how long your house has been there wink ;)

When we were looking round for a house we went at various times to see if there were any issues!

Alan, did you look for your house at 11.30pm or later? Even if you buy a house near to a pub it is unreasonable to be disturbed by noise in your own house after closing time.

If it would have been near a pub, Fred, yes I would! But there again I wouldn't buy a house near a pub or takeaway etc!

We looked at houses near schools and went at chucking it time (not in Silsden) and was put off!

The point I was trying to make is that you can see if there are possible problems and check them at the APPROPRIATE time, even if that is midnight!

I understand the point your making Alan, I think what I'm trying to say is when a business like a pub/club is sited in a mainly residential area rather than a town/city center they need to be reasonable about the noise levels late at night. And basically it's music, which is entirely under the control of the pub/club.

If pubs/clubs were allowed to do what they liked as far as noise was concerned and people were just told don't buy a house near one if you can't put up with the noise they could completely blight an area and make properties unsaleable.

i agree with alan though
you do your research
every property we bid on id been round mid week at 3am after nightshift
(everyone in bed all cars parked up)
in the end with the muppet mortgage advisor we originally had we had to get the house we did

and we only got that thanks to the never give up attitude of michael knowls

which is why when we sell it will be done through knowls excellant service great family run business

plus back on subject we have naylor myres and the play park behind us
knew they were gonna be a bit noisy through the day so knew what we were getting into
