This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Did anyone go to the Father's/Grandad's Day at Aireview school last week. My Grandson attends Aireview and my wife & I were invited to go and spend an afternoon in the classroom. What surprised us is that the pupils are allowed to drink in class. They often went up to the sink and re-filled their small flasks. In my day we weren't even allowed to have a sweet in class. It certainly was more relaxed than when I attended primary school. I also noticed there were quite a few teacher's assistants, or whetever they are called, in the playground. There again in my school in the 50's there was just one teacher patrolling the playground while drinking a cup of tea. All in all we enjoyed the experience.
In September my gandson will attend Hothfield Street which will bring back memories to me as I attended Hothfield Street in the 1950's when it was a secondary school with Mr Brown as the headmaster. Anyone remember him? I think this reminiscing warrants a new post.
