This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

I read in a national newspaper it cost £1 per metre to paint a white line on a road. This seems to be a reasonable cost for a simple road safety feature.

So why have the road markings in Silsden been neglected? The white markings for our Zebra Crossings have all but disappeared. Centre lines and parking areas are also fading away. The visibility of the Zebra Crossings is even more acute in the wet and when it is dark.

Perhaps there has to be an accident to get our road markings repainted, but then perhaps the accident would be blamed on traffic speed and it would be suggested we get a speed camera!

Isn't time our road markings were repainted before someone is injured or worse?

I see Brad Met are still saving up for a pot of white paint.

Why is it so difficult to implement such a simple safely measure?

Yellow paint must be hellishly expensive because we've been waiting for months for the lines to be painted on the cobbles by the developrs of the mill at the bottom of Howden Road!
Suprisingly they can afford banners etc to show off the show house but cannot get the road works completed!

Great, now they've repainted Howden Road.

But what about the cobbles? As they've not bothered, can I legally park on the corner?

So they do have some yellow paint!

I wonder what you have to do to get the job finished properly. I'm referring to the repainting of the white lines in Kirkgate - much better, but what about the yellow lines and the white lines marking the parking areas?

Don't get too excited "watchit" it was the developer who repainted the lines!

alan they have not repainted the yellow lines, if they had the lines would go all the way round the corner until they joined up with the single yellow line, that's the way it used to be and still should be. once again bradford have sold silsden short by not making the builders pay to do the job right in the first place, now we will have to wait years before bradford council get round to doing the job themselves, using of course our money.

"Grandad" if you want to be pedantic they have painted "SOME" of the yellow lines.

That was the point of my post!
