A winter night’s entertainment Saturday December 8th @ 7.30pm 2012. On Saturday, December 8th, the Follow The Fleece Company presents the world premier of In Silsden on a Winter’s Night at St James Church, Silsden. Following the Company’s successful performance of 1611, the vicar, David Griffiths, asked whether the Company might have something suitable to perform towards the end of the year. As a result, Nigel Schofield devised In Silsden on a Winter’s Night, especially for this performance. The show features the Follow The Fleece Company itself, together with guests Grace Notes, INPO, Jiggery Polkery and BACCApella, performing songs and tunes connected to this time of year. There are familiar carols, of course, but also some less well-known songs from the English and American folk traditions. There are also more recent Christmas songs that you might associate with Elvis Presley, Joni Mitchell and even Bing Crosby. There’ll also be plenty of opportunities to join in and sing along. The show is linked with readings, recitations and remembrances of Christmases past that span seven centuries. It promises to be a unique and very special performance – the ideal way to start your Christmas early. Admission on the door costs £5.00 with refreshments. |
