Please consider donating to the British Heart Foundation (this includes CRT TVs) Items we can collect Furniture - with fire labels Large electrical appliances Small electrical items Books Shoes and handbags Clothing Accessories Jewellery CDs and DVDs Children's toys Homeware If you want to donate a CRT TV it must have a SCART socket and a remote control, and of course be working. If you are a taxpayer you can gift aid your donation and increase your donation by an extra 20%. I have got rid of several unwanted TVs this way and they collect. If you give them your email address they send an email letting you know how much money was made from your donation. Having worked for HMRC I don't see how gift aid would work when donating an Item. When giving money the tax you have already paid before you get the money is paid back - so how can they claim back an undetermined amount on an item you give...... |

My understanding is If you give the item directly to a charity instead of asking the charity to sell them on your behalf, you will not be able to Gift Aid the proceeds from the sale of the item |

The charity takes your details (in this case the National Heart Foundation) and claim Gift Aid on your behalf. Obviously they can only claim when they know how much the item has been sold for. Don't forget to let them have your email address so they can let you know how much your donation was sold for and how much this was worth to the charity.  |
