This website and forum has been living on borrowed web server time for years. At the end of this month silsden.net in it's present form will cease to exist, BUT there is a new silsden.net in the making, and a new forum, and lots of exciting new things coming to this space. Peter

Well thats the end of Silsden holidays for another year back to work on Monday. When the textile trade was in full swing in Silsden the last two weeks the main streat was like a ghost town as most of the shops closed and lots of locals took there holidays. Not any more as most people work out of the village now and there are not many shops left down the streat.

As I remember back in the middle ages the 50s & 60s) we had the last in July and first in August.

Which village are you refering to, Steeton or Addingham, because Silsden is a town.

If it were full of new houses then there could not be any old houses!

Silsden is in fact a community that has been growing for over 1000 years. This is quite natural so why all the fuss about new houses, unless of course it is NIMBYism at work?

Silsden is a small town.
Each mill town had its holiday at different times of the summer Silsden had ours in June for two weeks then later it became three weeks where ever you went on Holiday in those weeks you would bumb into some Silsden'ers.
