this post has been edited 1 time(s) who is this Bob you are all talking about,and what does he do.(Oy up can i hear a padlock closing ) Silsden fireman Bob Thomas has hung up his helmet after 28 years service. He joined the fire brigade in 1973 after ten years as a machine tool fitter at Keighley engineers Dean Smith & Grace. Mr Thomas, who has always lived in Silsden, says the excitement of the job appealed to him. "I also enjoyed the comradeship, social life and sporting life," he adds. He played for the Bradford Fire Service football team for ten years. In 1973 Mr Smith was posted to Keighley's White Watch but also covered Silsden on a part time basis for five years. He was promoted to Leading Firefighter in 1983 and posted to Bingley where he remained for ten years before returning to Keighley. The same year - 1993 - also saw him gain a cap for England when he represented the country in a golf match against Scotland. |

Middy i am not stuck under no duvet i have been busy extracting money out of Greengrass what a job i had to wrestle him to the floor pry open his wallet with a crowbar and fight off a swarm of moths after he had eaten all our Christmas cake & cheese that he washed down with a large cup of tea glad he no turn up every day well i did get a tenner off him and a fiver for the Y.A.A. |
